New Preprint: Post-Identity Collapse Defense

The experiential void of identity collapse — the disorientation, the emptiness, the felt sense of having lost yourself — is not the collapse.

It is the defense.

The formation that held "who you were" has already de-coupled. The person you've become is already operating. What you experience as the void is the narrative self-model's compressive resistance against a successor state it cannot metabolize. The collapse is complete. The crisis you feel is the ego holding its position after the position has already been lost.

This preprint derives the reclassification from two published laws — the Law of Identity and the Law of Identity Collapse — and introduces selective identity dysfunction as a named, testable phenomenon: the co-occurrence of narrative-identity disruption with preserved functional capacity. It explains, on structural grounds, why psychotherapy, coaching, pharmacotherapy, and rest each fail to resolve the void in a specific subset of identity-presenting populations. And it identifies the structural requirements for intervention that bypasses the defense without disclosing the protocol that implements them.

Five falsifiable predictions are stated. Each can fail.
